GitBook alternative
GitBook gives you a place to write docs. VizRepo writes them.
GitBook is a polished platform for product docs your team authors. If the problem is that nobody has time to write internal engineering docs, or that they go stale, you need the docs generated from the code. VizRepo does that, and can publish the result into GitBook.
What GitBook is built for
GitBook describes itself as a platform to "create and publish product docs that work for users and AI" with GitHub and GitLab two-way sync. Content is written and edited by people, with AI writing assistance.
What VizRepo adds
- Every endpoint documented by reading its handler and the code it calls: purpose, business rules, steps with file references, data read and written, external services, errors.
- Every cited file verified against the repository.
- Re-documented only where code changed on each merged pull request, with a Recent Changes entry.
- Synced to Notion, Confluence, GitHub Wiki, Azure DevOps Wiki, GitBook or SharePoint.
- Public pricing: free Starter, Pro $129 with a 14-day trial, Team $329.
Use them together
Keep GitBook as the reading and publishing layer. Connect VizRepo to your repositories and sync the generated internal docs into a GitBook space, so the human-written and the generated pages live together.

Questions
- Can VizRepo publish to GitBook?
- Yes. GitBook is one of the sync targets, next to Notion, Confluence, GitHub Wiki, Azure DevOps Wiki and SharePoint.
- Do we have to leave GitBook?
- No. VizRepo writes into GitBook, so generated pages sit next to the pages your team wrote by hand and stay current without anyone editing them.
- Is my source code stored?
- No. The repository is cloned for the scan and deleted afterwards. A self-hosted option is available.
